I Am Tamar a timely collaborative book written by Dr. Charlene Winley and other gifted authors is the “balm” needed in 2023.  Current U.S. statistical data report that 1 out of 3 women will experience sexual trauma in her lifetime.  Sexual trauma is a global epidemic and impacts girls younger than 3 years of age and women over 90.  The world is filled with Tamar’s bruised and shamed by persons familiar and strangers.  Historically, many cultural and ethnic groups have taught girls not to tell to avoid family shaming, loss of funds by the provider/predator and other types of juridical punishment. Girls in rural counties are victimized daily and some eventually forced to marry their abuser – this must end!
